Montefeltro is an area in central Italy of great historical importance. Its borders coincide with the diocese of Montefeltro which was established before 1000 AD.
It includes municipalities in the regions of Le Marche, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. Part of its territory original included an area of the ancient Republic of San Marino.
The beauty of its landscape and its historical significance have been a source of inspiration. Two rivers run through valleys that cross the area: the Marecchia and the Foglia. Its castles and towers dominate its imposing rock peaks.
The landscape is delightfully varied. A journey through the region offers fascinating changes of scenery full of nuances, including ravines, gently rolling hills, impregnable fortresses and solitary majestic towers: A number of artists and artisans have settled in Montefeltro. The area has its own culinary tradition with local foods and wines that have gained an international reputation.
